Browning Arms Company was originally known as John Moses and Matthew Sandefur Browning Company. It started as an American seller of firearms and fishing gear. The Browning Arms Company started in Ogden, Utah, in 1878 by brothers John Moses Browning (1855-1926) and Matthew Sandefur Browning (1859-1923). The company offers a wide variety of firearms, including shotguns, rifles and guns.
Other products include fishing rods and reels, gun safes, sports arches, knives and bicycles.
Initially, the company was founded to commercialize the sports (non-military) designs of John Browning, one of the most important and prolific inventors of firearms in the world.
Most John Browning’s designs which are innovative have been manufactured under license by other companies including

Browning Arms Company is best known for the A-Bolt and X-Bolt bolt rifles, the semi-automatic BAR rifle, the BPR rifle with pump, the BPS shotgun, the Auto-5 semi-automatic shotgun, and the Hi-Power gun. It also manufactures a set of trap shotguns such as the 725 Pro Trap, the Citori CX series and the Cynergy series.
Browning Footwear
Browning-footwear introduced a line of hunting boots in 1968 and continued to design and manufacture footwear through external suppliers until 2001.
In that year, a license agreement was reached with HH Brown Shoe Company, a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway, based in Connecticut, to manufacture Footwear.
The product line included the John M. Browning collection, the Field and Game series and the sport and waterfowl lines.
The line has grown to include kangaroo leather boots, rubber boots and boots and mountain hunting boots.

In 1968, Company introduced a cutlery line in the form of 3 fixed blade hunting knives and a folding knife designed by the custom knife maker Gil Hibben.

1891: Patents are filed for a separate gas-powered rifle
1892: The first patent filed on an 1895 Colt automatic machine gun. During the Spanish-American War, the name of the “peacemaker Browning” was obtained
1895: First patented semi-automatic pistol
1897: Agreement reached between Fabric National and Browning. 32 semi-automatic pistols for markets outside the United States
1902: Fabric National is granted exclusive rights to manufacture and sell self-loading rifles.
1910: A patent is registered on a 45-caliber semi-automatic pistol, which was the official military force in the United States for nearly 75 years.
1923: A patent application is filed with 9 mm locked brakes, short recoil, semi-automatic hammer pistol. John M. Browning is another hexagon development
1931: Launch of Superpiz rifle at Browning Arms
1951: JM and MS Browning were abolished. Browning Arms becomes a wholesale importer
