Only underwhelming TOPS knife I’ve received…. Until I put it through its paces….
The grind was terrible. Super rough grind near the tip. About the front inch to inch and a half had such deep gouges that the only way to stop the rust was regrinding and reprofiling the whole edge. Oiling would not keep that tip clear from rust.
The knife now has a 15 degree convex secondary and it is one of the best wood processing knives I have for making kindling, feather sticks, and any other small task. The 1/4 inch steel with the full flat with the secondary convex make it great at splitting, betoning, etc. The wood just gets out of its way with minimal effort.
The shape and size feels good, but a bit weird, like you just don’t know exactly what kind of knife this is, but once you start using it, it shows up and shows off.
Grind sucked, sheath rocks, though I changed the clip for an Ulticlip so I could pocket carry, and the handles feel great. There is definitely a tactical vibe to this knife, but can do bushcraft tasks, and I am sure it would work well at skinning too.
