Not a full tang piece but very cool design. The extension is welded on. I broke the handle pretty easily but modified a Cold Steel War Hawk handle with 4 attachment points for added strength and support, including 2 on the upper tang before the weld. I bought all new beefed up zinc plated hardware for $20 at the hardware store, I brought the handle in to size it all up perfectly. If the half tang weld breaks the axe head will not separate from the handle and can continue to be used. With the longer handle my axe head is now over torqued, but has lots of cutting and smashing power. The axe sharpens up nicely. The hammer side looks very suspect and will likely fail if exposed to extreme impacts. Use with caution along with safety goggles and full face helmet for safety.
