I wanted to, but simply couldn’t give this 3 stars and feel ok about it, because its a tool and it must function as such, or its of no use to anyone. I know, it is a 10 dollar knife, but it goes for as much as 22 from some places. I love the look, size, shape, grind, the Micarta has a lovely velvet feel that is just delightful. The fit and finish is not good, but I would never complain about that at the price. I actually had to glue a loose scale, but again, not a big deal. The belt satin finish is nicely done. The thing that drops this knife from 4 stars (respectively) is the blade steel. I’ve used 420HC, but this is the first 420 stainless blade for me, and I swear, its worse than 3cr. It doesn’t just lose its edge; it barely takes one. I’m an experienced free hand sharpener, and I can achieve a shaving edge on my knifes from AUS 8 to Maxamet. Maybe I got a lemon with a trash heat treatment, because I have sharpened soft steels, and they actually get insanely sharp, but dull quickly. Not this guy. Even the excellent hollow geometry can’t save it. This one is gonna be a coin toss. If you’re buying it so you can get free shipping, ok sure. Otherwise, I say don’t bother. This knife seems to be super popular, but I just want my ten bucks back to spend on a new strop. Chicago Knife Works is THE BEST SELLER I’ve ever done business with. Do please buy here, you’ll be glad you did.
